Who is this for? Beginner poker players who want to know how to play different forms of poker profitably.  The lengthy e-book teaches No Limit Hold’em, 7-Card Stud, Omaha Hi-Lo, Pot Limit Omaha, and Half-pot limit Badugi.  There are also two chapters on poker tournament strategy towards the end; but overall it is intended for beginners.

When you first download this book, you’ll see it contains 17 chapters which makes it very big for an eBook.  The core idea of the book is to put across how you can make money in online poker.  It starts off by identifying what makes poker beatable, such as EV, making cost-equity decisions etc.  The first sections of the poker book prepare you and deal with pre-game elements such as table selection, position etc.  Further in, it details how to play hands pre-flop.

In terms of teaching the game, Kasch provides a full-proof strategy for the different forms of poker including No Limit Hold’em, 7-Card Stud, Omaha Hi-Lo, Pot Limit Omaha, half-pot limit Badugi and multi-table tournaments.  The advice and strategy is solid and details a infinite number of situations with anecdotes and hand history examples (sort of like Harrington on Holdem if you’re familiar).  His tournament strategy section registers home the idea folding 95% of hands and he opines a pretty TAG playing style suited for beginners.

The downside to this book is that it teaches a robotic autarkic way of playing cash game poker, with rules and strict playing patterns for different situations and streets.  This made it hard for me to read through but I guess the objective of the book is to make money and these observations and situations do create profitable EV situations.  Remember that Kasch is a very successful semi-pro poker player and all his opinions and advice is quality.

In conclusion, personally I didn’t enjoy reading this book as much as the NL Workbook and the Poker Blueprint but for $39 it won’t cause any damage, especially if you’re looking to boost your skills in a broad variety of poker games.
